Holo Comforted: This image is drawn from Episode Two: "Wolf and a Distant Past." Holo has just been laughing at the church for its belief in a single creator since in her mind it shows a lack of comprehension of how awesomely huge nature is. The idea is to her absurd, and she mocks the church asking aloud when it had gone "into comedy." For this, she is rebuffed by Lawrance--but whether she has insulted his personal belief, or because he is afraid since they are out in the open within an abbey, the viewer is never told. However, the change of mood leads to her sadly reflect that humans no longer stand in awe of creation (which is her real objection to the one creator idea) and that times have changed. And that leads to fearful concern about what she may find up north Lawrance lays his hand on her head and reminds her that if she has remained the same for so great a time, those whom she left behind have probably endured as well.
She is, in fact, comforted by this and then is embarrassed because a mortal boy, one she has just earlier referred to as "a kid," has understood her so well and known the right thing to say.
