Saint Ruvinheigen was a crusader some centuries before the events of the series. Renowned for his military campaigns against the northern pagans, Ruvinheigen expanded the Church's influence in the region at great personal cost. The city of Ruvinheigen, then a fortress outpost, is his namesake.

Church tradition holds that Ruvinheigen had red hair and lost his left arm in fighting the pagans. A contemporary account by Holo verifies the saint's hair color but sheds doubt on the details of his injury. According to Holo, Ruvinheigen instead suffered an embarrassing but non-lethal bite to his buttocks after he unsuccessfully ordered his knights after her.
